A downstate meeting of nine SLA Illinois members was held on July 14, 2010 at the Illinois State University Alumni Center in Normal, Illinois.
The Illinois chapter provided for the pizza and salad dinner and Lorene Kennard, SLA Illinois President-Elect, updated the group on events from the national conference and Leadership Summit in New Orleans on June 13-16, 2010.
Andrea Tillander has graciously accepted the position of Chair of the Communications Committee starting with the upcoming Fall issue of The Informant.

The year 2009 is our association’s Centennial anniversary. There will be many association-wide events planned throughout the year to celebrate this momentous occasion. We’ll also be celebrating here at home in our Chapter, so watch for details of the events to come!

When calendars made the transition from 12/31/99 to 01/01/2000, there was some snickering by those who did nothing toward those who went to extreme steps. Each side was convinced that it had the right approach. After Y2K, disaster plans and contingency plans were shelved to gather dust. For some, the dust hit the floor on 9/11/2001.
