Aug. 18 - National Library of Medicine: Free Research Databases and Resources

08/18/2010 - 11:30am
08/18/2010 - 1:00pm
Etc/GMT-6

Recent events in the Gulf have created a heightened awareness about the impact of environmental threats. With that in mind, it seems an appropriate time to learn about free governmental resources about our health and the environment that are available to us.

In this lively, online class, join Holly Ann Burt to discover the toxicological and environmental health information made available through the National Library of Medicine. Tour the Tox-Net portal including Haz-Map for occupational exposure to hazardous agents, TOXMAP, the Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB) and the Household Products Database. Access the Radiation Emergency Medical Management site, and learn about updates to PUBMED.gov (MEDLINE) and how to access full-text articles. We will be exploring these and other sites and resources available through the National Library of Medicine (NLM) website at www.nlm.nih.gov
