By Susan Chenoweth, Past President, SLA Illinois The changes continue at our SLA Illinois Chapter.
The outgoing Board and Committees worked on many things this past year. Responding to feedback from the survey that was done more than a year ago, we embarked on multiple projects. We tried to focus on our administrative and communication processes and to use technology and manage cost more effectively to serve the members.
One team reviewed and updated the Recommended Practices Manual which serves to guide the actions of the chapter. The Informant was morphed into an Internet version and the Informants team gathered content from a variety of seasoned and new writers. The public relations newsletter informed members with monthly updates and weekly reminders of events and meetings.
Another team analyzed the meeting registration process with the goal of simple electronic registration for members. In fact, for our upcoming meeting, we are using Survey Monkey for registration with the option of PayPal for payment as we speak or as you read this article.
As you know we have had an infusion of new board members--President, President-Elect, Secretary, one interim Board member replacing the Second Year Director and a new First Year Board member. Many members are leveraging their experience on teams and new recruits are joining committees. We are expecting great ideas and implementation from the new crew.
Stay tuned as we continue to make the chapter work for you.
