Dear SLA Illinois Members, Students and Friends,

As those of  you who attended our combined SLA/CALL luncheon last week are aware, the 2010 SLA Illinois Board of Directors has approved a motion to invest in and assist our members during challenging times, by providing up to 20 Early Bird registration stipends for attendance at the Annual Conference in New Orleans. These stipends are in addition to 2, $1000. student stipends.

Media outlets demand a unique need for a library or information center within their company. Print, radio, TV and production companies can all benefit from having a dedicated person to manage their assets. This panel will discuss the significance of such collections and their growing need at stations or newspapers. We will also discuss how the economy and emerging technology has forced recent cuts in this field and the strain it places on these special libraries.
